Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Analytical Chemist to join our team at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. This position will work in the Analytical Chemistry Research Laboratory service center with a primary focus on pharmacology and toxicology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical testing, method development, data analysis, and reporting to support the college's research initiatives.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including ICP-MS and LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
  • Develop and validate custom analytical methods for clients from various fields of study.
  • Perform elemental and trace organic analyses using ICP-MS and LC-MS/MS in various sample matrices.
  • Manage laboratory finances, including purchasing supplies and coordinating project pricing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS and/or ICP-MS operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Experience with complex sample preparation and data management.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
