Nurse Practitioner

Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care PRN to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of our hospital's mission and values.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultation, while maintaining and promoting the health of patients.
- Work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, performing according to the nurse practice act of the State of Texas and as part of a treatment team.
- Role model compassionate communication with patients, physicians, and the interprofessional healthcare team.
- Provide education to patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments.
- Conduct physicals, order tests, and serve as a patient's healthcare provider, prescribing medications as appropriate.
- Effect direct patient care according to the Houston Methodist Professional Practice Model Nursing Practice and Professional Performance policies and procedures.
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Two years of Registered Nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience
- RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 60 days
- APRN - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Texas Board of Nursing
- Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification - as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, based on applicable patient population, ie, ACNP, AG-ACNP, ACNPC-AG
- AANP - Credentialed member, American Academy Of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) - as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, based on applicable patient population, ACNP, AG-ACNP, ACNPC-AG
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA) - (not required for Employee Health, Primary Care and Telemedicine departments)
- AP - Prescriptive Authority - Texas Board of Nursing
- DEA - Narcotics License (DEA) within 6 months
- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles
- Uses therapeutic communication to establish a relationship with patients, families and interprofessional team to collaborate on the plan of care
- Strong assessment, organizational and problem solving skill as evidenced by capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and role components
- Ability to function independently and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care team and patients and their families
- Demonstrates proficient time management skills
- Uses critical thinking skills and clinical judgment to work autonomously as defined by the Nurse Practice Act
