Company Overview

The Bronx Defenders is a pioneering, community-driven organization that has been transforming the indigent defense landscape in the South Bronx for over two decades.

We are a holistic defense office that not only defends our clients in court but also works to address the root causes of poverty and systemic injustice that lead to involvement in the legal system. Our innovative approach has earned us national recognition and a reputation as a leader in the field of holistic defense.

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Housing Attorney to join our team of passionate advocates. As a Housing Attorney, you will have the opportunity to work with our community-intake team to provide early intervention and support to individuals and families facing housing challenges. Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with experience. For candidates with 2-5 years of directly relevant experience, the salary range for this position would be approximately $84,304-$91,800. Full-time employees are also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental and vision coverage; a 403(b) plan with employer contribution; a generous vacation, sick leave, and parental leave policy.

You will also be part of our community-intake team, assisting with and representing community members with housing legal issues, advising people of their options, and making referrals to other organizations for services we do not provide.

You will collaborate with our Benefits Access team, Right to Counsel team, and other teams, practices, and departments to address the housing needs of community members. You will also identify holistic needs, make referrals, and work with attorneys and advocates to address and mitigate the enmeshed consequences of legal system involvement.

You will also have a commitment to fierce advocacy and a willingness to strategically challenge authority in defense of our clients.
