Automation Solutions Engineer

The Automation Solutions Engineer is a key member of our team at Integrated Production Systems, responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation systems to optimize manufacturing processes. This role primarily involves architecting solutions in support of sales, collaborating with various vendors and cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, and recommending subsystems and calculating the associated Return-On-Investment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide innovative solutions to customers by identifying and responding promptly to their needs.
  • Analyze inputs and create User Requirements to determine the feasibility of potential solutions.
  • Architect systems from sketches and/or verbal conversations and support the hand-over to the engineering design team to ensure the intended architecture is well designed.
  • Perform initial engineering calculations with respect to cycle time, strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to supporting architecture decisions.
  • Establish long-term business relationships with vendors and customers through direct, person-to-person interaction.
  • Develop those relationships through consultative selling that assesses and solves their application needs using IPS integration capabilities.
  • Plan and perform customer sales calls, assess customer needs, prepare customer quotes, and follow up on all related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, robotics, or mechatronics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 15 years designing complex engineering solutions that included hardware and software.
  • Minimum 7 years in automation design in domains where robotics and mechanical fixtures have been integrated.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of automation technologies and control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • We do not offer current or future work sponsorship for employment visas.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Travel estimated 30-50%.
