Eliot Community Human Services is recognized for its pioneering clinical methods, exceptional training programs, and a team of highly skilled professionals in community behavioral health.

Our Behavioral Health Division offers a comprehensive and integrated suite of services aimed at supporting adults with psychiatric challenges, grounded in evidence-based practices that foster rehabilitation and hope.

Eliot is currently in search of a Substance Abuse Counselor who possesses exceptional counseling abilities and experience in managing dual diagnosis cases.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and leading dual diagnosis support groups, employing motivational interviewing techniques, implementing harm reduction strategies, facilitating 12-step programs, and working within detoxification environments.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that individuals are treated with dignity and respect, adhering to ECHS' Human Rights policy.
  • Promote empowerment, choice, and recovery as foundational elements of service delivery.
  • Support individuals in exercising control over their lives, including daily routines, treatment options, and leisure activities, while providing information on available choices.
  • Assist individuals in achieving full community integration by guiding them in utilizing community resources, fostering memberships, and combating stigma through education.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals by reporting any concerns regarding neglect or abuse to the appropriate authorities.
  • Actively participate in supervision, team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Deliver culturally competent, strengths-based, recovery-oriented services that prioritize individual preferences.
  • Maintain therapeutic boundaries and professional relationships with individuals, exercising sound judgment to foster trust and prioritize their well-being.
  • Safeguard against the exploitation of emotional vulnerability and act in a manner that respects the integrity of the individual.


Qualifications:
Applicants must possess one of the following credentials:
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (LADC I)
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (LADC II)
- Certified Alcohol/Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC I or II)

Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM

Compensation:
LDAC II, CADAC - $49,680.00; LDAC I - $58,680.00

Licenses & Certifications:

Experience:
  • Required: 1-2 years in developing and facilitating dual diagnosis groups, motivational interviewing, harm reduction techniques, 12-step programs, and detoxification facilities.
  • Required: 2 years of experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
