PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will perform criminal background checks on all individuals being considered for initial employment. In certain cases, an FBI fingerprint report may be required to meet this requirement. Once employed, staff must maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are conducted. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees selected for positions that involve handling credit cards or other company funds. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be conducted during the hiring process or as part of a random check. MVR checks are necessary to comply with insurance requirements for employees operating a university vehicle or engaging in any driving activities on behalf of Brenau University. Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Georgia driver's license, and maintain a good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, are employed in sensitive positions, or travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug testing. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.

A nursing faculty member is tasked with teaching designated courses and supervising students in clinical practice environments. The faculty member is also responsible for creating educational materials that align with the university and department's mission statements, theoretical and conceptual frameworks, outcome statements, Georgia Board of Nursing, and professional accreditation standards. The faculty member reports directly to the chair of the Graduate Nursing Chair and the director of the MIGSON.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree in nursing or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of one year of teaching experience in a nursing program (two or more years preferred).
  • Relevant experience in the practice of professional nursing and education.
  • Current Georgia nursing license in good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • Certification as a PMHNP.
  • Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers is required.
  • Strong academic credentials in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Duties And Key Responsibilities

Administrative
  • Collaborate with course faculty to develop nursing courses.
  • Document student progress and achievement accurately within specific courses and/or clinical assignments.
  • Work with faculty to support and implement the university and department mission statements, theoretical and conceptual frameworks, and outcome statements.
  • Accept responsibility for assignments as delegated.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Participate in School of Nursing Faculty Organization meetings.
  • Fulfill any additional responsibilities as outlined by the director or graduate chair or their designee.
Resource Management
  • Collaborate with course coordinators to determine necessary resources.
Program Evaluation/Accreditation
  • Collaborate with course coordinators to evaluate courses.
  • Engage in ongoing evaluation of nursing programs and curricula.
Curriculum/Instruction
  • Teach 33 credits per academic year as assigned across various teaching platforms of the University.
  • Serve on at least one School of Nursing committee and one Brenau University committee.
  • Develop, implement, and assess educational materials consistent with the university and department missions, Georgia Board of Nursing, and professional accreditation standards. Utilize diverse teaching strategies and learning activities to enhance classroom and clinical learning and promote student achievement of program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with course faculty to develop nursing courses.
University advisor guidelines.
  • Fulfill all other duties and responsibilities of the faculty position as designated in the Brenau University Faculty and Staff Guidelines and the School of Nursing Faculty Handbook.
Work Hours
37.5 hours per week. Generally, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Hours may be extended to meet departmental needs.

Environmental And Working Conditions/ Physical Demands And Aptitudes
Primarily sedentary work. The role is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods of sitting and standing are necessary. The worker must have close visual acuity to grade papers, view a computer terminal, and engage in extensive reading.

Home Campus Designation
This position is an on-ground role.

Licensure Requirements
