We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in the preparation and examination of tissue specimens for microscopic analysis.
Key Responsibilities:- Receive and prepare surgical and autopsy tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
- Perform standard histological procedures, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and cover slipping.
- Assist pathologists with gross dissection of tissue specimens and prepare chemical reagents and solutions.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including performing quality control and preventive maintenance.
- Participate in training and development of new laboratory procedures and research projects.
- High school diploma plus two years histotechnology training, or
- Associate of Science degree or equivalent college credit hours in science plus one year histotechnology training, or
- Certificate from an accredited school of histotechnology.
- Registration as a Histotechnologist (HTL), Histotechnician (HT), or registry eligibility through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
