About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Health and Safety Professional to join our team at Buffalo Construction, Inc. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our employees, contractors, and clients on construction sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Policy Development: Collaborate with our Safety Promoter to evaluate, develop, and execute company safety policies, programs, and training.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Partner with project teams to educate and coach safety best practices, promoting a positive safety culture and preventing incidents.
  • Safety Audits: Perform job site safety audits to identify hazardous conditions and practices, implementing corrective actions and procedures as needed.
  • Incident Investigation: Partner with project teams to investigate incidents and accidents, identifying causes and implementing preventive measures.
  • Training and Development: Provide required teammate safety training to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain a high level of safety awareness.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's or bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or construction sciences, with a certificate from an accredited safety professional's organization (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST).
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a construction or industrial safety role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations in construction.
  • Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, ability to address groups, and convey safety information effectively.
  • Certifications: Certification from BCSP as a CHST, ASP, GSP, or CSP, with experience in auditing and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Safety Reports, Insight).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Leadership: Strong safety leadership skills, with the ability to demonstrate creative problem-solving and safety leadership.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1926.
  • Training and Development: Training certification for M.E.W.P., forklift, 1st aid/CPR/AED, and BBP.
