We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Job Summary:The Registered Nurse will work within the nursing process to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, consistent with clinical specialty. This includes working independently of patient location, serving as a role model to promote a positive work environment, and ensuring adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:- Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required.
- Work within Hospitals, Nursing division, and departmental policies.
- Implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age-specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
- Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel.
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients.
- Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information.
- Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy.
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings, and workshops.
- Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Program Graduate.
- Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate.
- 1 year directly related experience.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days.
- RN in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by New Mexico.
This position requires the ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. The working conditions include a significant hazard of chemicals and biohazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment.
