Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Interiors and Drivers Environment engineering team at Navistar. As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in the delivery of Interior and Drivers Environment systems, overseeing multiple aspects within the Product Design and Development process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement innovative systems and solutions for next-generation Navistar vehicles
  • Support sustaining projects, including current product manufacturing and field issues root causing and determining engineering resolutions
  • Provide support during system and vehicle validation, as well as travel to test facilities and build events at manufacturing facilities
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Tooling, and Purchasing teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects
  • Lead concept design, detailed design, and development, and release of Interiors parts for new products
  • Work with different systems, including Instrument Panels, Seating systems, Steering Wheels, Door Trims, Hard Trims, Soft Trims, Bunks, Plastic, and Rubber parts
  • Learn new technologies and incorporate them into products
  • Guide and mentor lesser-experienced team members
  • Engineering support for current production concerns
  • CAD model and print generation in UG-NX/Team Center environment
  • Support supplier-requested design changes and help resolve quality concerns with guidance from experienced engineering team members
  • Creation of DFMEAs and DVPs with guidance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 5 years of experience in product design/development
  • OR Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 3 years of experience in product design/development
  • OR PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States
Desired Skills
  • Prior experience with Plastics design and Plastics manufacturing process
  • Prior experience designing parts for Injection molding, Reaction injection molding, Thermoforming, or Rubber components
  • Experience using Unigraphics UG-NX or any CAD-related modeling software
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to formulate timing plans and project plans
  • Experience with design quality tools, including DFMEA, DVP, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and Dimensional Management (GD&T)
