Compunnel Inc. - Food Scientist

We are seeking a talented Food Scientist to contribute to advancing new ingredient technologies that will shape the future of our product offerings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of cutting-edge ingredient technology for clients' food and beverage products.
  • Conduct bench top and pilot plant trials to optimize formulations and processes.
  • Perform functional evaluations of new ingredients and document results meticulously.
  • Lead sensory testing of prototypes and coordinate expert panel sensory evaluations.
  • Oversee shelf-life and stability assessments of new products, utilizing microbiology lab techniques to ensure safety and quality.
  • Facilitate regular team evaluations and discussions on project progress.
  • Submit prototypes for analytical testing and compile comprehensive results.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding ingredient requests and information.
  • Prepare detailed progress reports to track and communicate project advancements.
  • Maintain and organize the laboratory space and supplies, ensuring all equipment and materials are in good working order.
  • Adhere to and enforce laboratory safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a food science or microbiology lab setting.
  • Strong ability to provide sensory descriptions of foods and beverages.
  • Proficient in microbiology lab techniques and methods, with a solid understanding of microbiological principles as they apply to food safety and product development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous record-keeping.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
