As an Accounting Director, you will play a key role in supporting our Prime subscription businesses, which include direct-to-consumer and B2B sales channels. You will be responsible for the revenue generated through these channels and will work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze and improve our accounting processes.

This position requires a self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. You will have the opportunity to lead projects that enhance customer experiences, reduce manual efforts, and improve Controllership. You will also work closely with Finance and Tax teams to analyze revenue variances and understand potential tax issues.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Leading the monthly accounting close process, including preparing journal entries, analyzing and explaining fluctuations and variances, and providing meaningful financial reporting to management.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional business partners, including Finance, Operations, Tax, and Technology teams, to maintain flow of communication and support.
  • Analyzing current procedures, recommending, developing, and driving process improvements to achieve efficiency and scalability.
  • Leading automation projects and reducing manual efforts.
  • Executing judgments to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month.
  • Collaborating with technical teams to resolve issues related to unprocessed system transactions.
  • Supporting external audit process and escalating any inefficiency to management.
  • Assessing internal controls, identifying gaps in the control process, and designing additional controls to solve deficiencies.
  • Building trust with senior management through effective communication.

About the team:

The Prime Accounting team supports Amazon's Prime subscription businesses, which include direct-to-consumer and B2B sales channels. This position requires a self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
