Description
In this role, you will engage in moderately complex technical tasks that bolster the Human Resources Department. Your work will be conducted under the limited oversight of the Director of Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support internal and external human resources inquiries and requests with intermediate technical skills.
  • Manage and uphold confidential employee records in accordance with retention policies and digitize records into an online system.
  • Organize and maintain documentation related to recruitment activities, including advertising expenses and turnover statistics, providing data as required.
  • Facilitate new employee orientation and training sessions.
  • Process invoices for the department.
  • Input various employment data into the HR system, ensuring compliance with employment regulations.
  • Address payroll discrepancies as they arise.
  • Assist with open enrollment modifications and multiple employee requests.
  • Participate in special projects and events, such as creating training materials, conducting surveys, and organizing job fairs.
  • Oversee and coordinate the City's Wellness Program.
  • Exercise discretion in implementing departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete exit paperwork and conduct exit interviews.
  • Assist in the annual departmental budget preparation.
  • Administer the Prescription Safety Glasses and Eye Care Program.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and procedures; familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local privacy regulations; strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills; effective communication abilities in both verbal and written forms; capability to collect, organize, and analyze data; proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to prepare clear reports and recommendations; and the ability to foster effective working relationships with city employees, retirees, officials, and community members.


Education and Experience

An Associate's or Technical degree in human resources or a related field, along with substantial knowledge of office protocols. A minimum of two years of experience is preferred but not mandatory.


Special Requirements

Must possess or be able to obtain Notary Public licensure within six months of employment. Preference will be given to candidates with IPMA or SHRM certification.


Physical Demands

This position is primarily sedentary, requiring minimal physical exertion. Regular tasks include speaking, listening, sitting, and using hands for typing or handling materials. Occasional standing and repetitive motions may be necessary. The work environment is typically a standard office setting with moderate noise levels.
