Job Summary:

This position is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to students in a safe and healthy environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a passion for providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve food according to menus and in correct portion sizes as mandated by yield guides.
  • Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping of floors, cleaning of equipment and work areas, dishwashing and pot washing.
  • Brew coffee, fill beverage machines, and set up hot and/or cold food areas.
  • Deliver food to staff, students, and catering events as needed.
  • Comply with all state, federal, and local health department requirements for safe food handling.
  • Comply with all client location security protocols and guidelines.
  • Check and store incoming supplies.
  • Follow assigned break schedules.
  • Collect and strip trays for dishwashing and participate in ware washing if assigned.
  • Store silverware, dishes, glasses, cups, pots, etc.
  • Participate on safety committee.
  • Attend all mandatory in-service programs.
  • Manage POS/cash handling if applicable for position.

Additional Requirements:

  • Adhere to all Whitsons policies and procedures at all times.
  • Support the goals, objectives, and mission statement set forth by Whitsons.
  • Comply with all requirements of the mandated food handling certification requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments, including reading and understanding recipes.
  • Extensive physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to use POS system.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • Always present a positive and professional image.
  • Basic English reading and writing skills.
  • Able to pass background screening.
  • Able to pass strict background screening.
  • ServSafe certification a plus but not required.
