Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Cambridge Health Alliance. As a Medical Assistant - Patient Access Representative II, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our ambulatory site.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and families in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answer phone calls and take accurate messages.
- Schedule patient appointments electronically and execute daily insurance verifications.
- Complete patient appointment registrations and maintain accurate records of daily co-payments collected.
- Obtain consent for treatment and other necessary patient signatures.
- Perform administrative duties to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement for services provided.
- Assist with prescription refill requests and scan documents into medical records.
- Receive and distribute mail and faxes, and assist with processing referrals and coordinating specialty appointments.
- Troubleshoot office equipment failures and generate maintenance requests for repairs.
- Actively manage patient flow through the clinic, preparing medical records and gathering information to optimize visits.
- Participate in team huddles and meetings, and room patients to assist providers with medical histories and documentation.
- Check vital signs and perform point-of-care testing as needed, and actively communicate with patients to set expectations.
- Provide clear and timely observations to providers regarding patient issues, and manage room cleaning, stocking, and setup.
- Assist providers with clinical procedures, participate in process improvement initiatives, and assist co-workers in their duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with graduation from an accredited medical assistant program.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support Certification.
- Ability to write and verbally communicate in English, with knowledge of a second language preferred.
- Current experience as a Medical Assistant, with experience in administrative duties in a clinical setting preferred.
