Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Overview:

Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in providing care for elderly residents in a long-term care facility. This position involves assisting residents with daily activities such as dressing, bathing, and eating, while also gathering vital signs and non-invasive specimens as directed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responds promptly to residents' needs through signal lights, bells, or intercom systems.
  • Assists residents with personal hygiene, including bathing and dressing.
  • Serves meals and provides assistance to residents who require help with eating.
  • Aids in the transportation of residents or supports them in walking.
  • Prepares residents for examinations and treatments, ensuring comfort and assistance during procedures.
  • Regularly turns and repositions residents to prevent pressure sores.
  • Maintains cleanliness by changing bed linens and performing light housekeeping tasks.
  • Monitors and records vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse, as instructed.
  • Engages in laundry and general housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Ensures a clean and organized living environment for residents.
  • Exhibits reliability and punctuality in attendance and work schedule.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the supervising nurse.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a one-year certificate program from a college or technical school, or three to six months of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a Certified Nurse's Aide certification in Michigan.

This role is essential in ensuring that residents receive the compassionate care and support they deserve in a nurturing environment.
