Position Overview
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in providing essential care to elderly residents in a long-term care setting. Under the guidance of licensed nursing professionals, the CNA is responsible for assisting residents with daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Responds promptly to residents' needs through signal lights, bells, or intercom systems.
- Aids residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Prepares and serves meals, assisting residents who require help with eating.
- Supports residents in mobility, whether through transportation or walking assistance.
- Assists during medical examinations and treatments, providing necessary support to nursing staff.
- Regularly turns and repositions residents to prevent pressure ulcers.
- Maintains cleanliness in residents' living spaces, including changing bed linens and tidying rooms.
- Monitors and records vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, and pulse as directed.
- Participates in light housekeeping and laundry tasks as needed.
- Demonstrates reliability in attendance and punctuality.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Qualifications
- Completion of a one-year certificate program from a college or technical school, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Must possess a Certified Nurse's Aide certification in Michigan.
