Job Summary

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our team of compassionate and dedicated caregivers. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities in their homes, at our support centers, or in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
  • Document and adhere to individual program plans, as directed by the Program Coordinator or Department Manager.
  • Provide support and supervision to individuals in various settings, including afterschool programs, colleges, universities, part-time jobs, and Day Programs or Group Homes.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues to ensure seamless care and support.
  • Attend and complete all required training and professional development opportunities.
  • Meet punctuality and attendance standards, as outlined by the organization.
  • Document progress and communicate findings to program coordinators.
  • Prepare and submit behavioral and incident reports, as necessary.
  • Manage and de-escalate behavioral outbursts, including physical and verbal aggression, property destruction, elopement, self-injurious behaviors, and self-stimulatory behaviors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Successful completion of LiveScan background check, employment verification, and TB screening
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds while assisting individuals
  • Ability to run, bend, sit, and stand for periods at a time

  • Demonstrates effective communication and ability to implement existing behavioral plans
  • Ability to connect with clients and families by adapting to their specific needs
  • Comfortable working in clients' homes and various settings
