Position Overview:
Sales associates play a crucial role in upholding a positive image of Zettler Hardware by delivering exceptional customer service that aligns with the company's core values. The primary responsibility of a sales associate is to support customers while ensuring a tidy and efficient sales area. Continuous learning and knowledge expansion within the retail sector are essential. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by assisting clients both in-person and via phone, addressing inquiries, guiding them to products, and recommending additional items that may enhance their shopping experience.
  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere for customers by keeping the sales floor clean and organized, including performing housekeeping duties.
  • Inform customers about upcoming promotions and new product arrivals.
  • Assist customers with loading their purchases into vehicles as required.
  • Organize merchandise according to established planograms and help maintain signage.
  • Restock shelves as needed.
  • Participate in regular inventory checks.
  • Ensure products are faced and fronted throughout the store at the start and end of shifts, and as time allows during the day.
  • Support store staff with various tasks as necessary.
  • Remain vigilant to identify potential shoplifters and other theft-related activities, responding appropriately in accordance with store policies.
  • Attend all staff meetings.
  • Comply with all store policies and safety regulations.
  • Be capable of cutting keys for customers.
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional customer service abilities and a professional demeanor.
  • A foundational understanding of the products available in the store, with a commitment to ongoing learning.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to think independently and resolve issues.
  • Familiarity with effective sales techniques and strategies.
  • Proficiency in point-of-sale systems for price lookups, special orders, and order entry, along with knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong mathematical, reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Able to lift items weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Goals:
  • Enhance overall sales by effectively closing transactions and promoting the store's loyalty program and additional sales.
  • Continuously broaden knowledge across all store departments.
  • Become a versatile team member, capable of assisting in various areas as needed.
  • Take a personal interest in the products sold in the store and acquire the knowledge to make informed recommendations to management regarding new products and merchandising.
  • With sufficient experience, mentor new employees to help them understand products and retail concepts.
