Position Overview: As a Psychiatric Nursing Specialist II, you will be tasked with delivering direct nursing care to your designated patients utilizing the nursing process. In this role, you will also act as a clinical leader for fellow staff members, ensuring compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will encompass working with patients across various age groups, including neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Foster your professional development by engaging in educational programs, attending in-service training, reviewing current literature, and participating in meetings and workshops.
  • Administer medications, including intravenous therapies, adhering to the Seven Rights; accurately document and communicate clinical observations.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document tailored care plans that consider age-specific needs, including discharge planning and patient/family education.
  • Ensure that patient medical records are comprehensive and contain all necessary information.
  • Manage incoming calls and triage them according to departmental protocols.
  • Provide safe and effective direct care to an assigned group of patients as required.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Nationally accredited nursing graduate.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Registered Nurse licensure in New Mexico or as permitted by reciprocal agreements.
  • Current CPR certification for Healthcare Providers or Professional Rescuers within 30 days.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or individuals.

Work Environment:

  • Significant hazards include exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment.
