Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a key member of our patient access team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive exceptional care and service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient demographics and accurately check patients in for appointments
  • Monitor patient wait times and communicate changes to patients as necessary
  • Read and interpret insurance responses to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement
  • Understand and apply general guidelines and insurance rank requirements to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter
  • Ensure patients receive necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtain necessary legal and financial signatures, and communicate financial obligations
  • Process multi-channel messages related to patient and/or physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints
  • Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibility and collect accordingly
  • Perform cash posting following department guidelines and maintain high regard for confidentiality
  • Accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases, and assist with referrals and pre-certifications
  • Properly utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
  • Certification(s) and License(s) as required by the position
