KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRIMARY ROLE
Within the Commercial division, the Product Owner (PO) is an integral member of an Agile Delivery Team (ADT).

In this role, the PO is tasked with maximizing the value delivered by the team by ensuring that the team backlog aligns with customer and stakeholder requirements.

The PO may oversee one or several concurrent high-value products, projects, or assignments that may span multiple functional business areas and ADTs.

The PO will collaborate within an Agile Delivery Team (ADT) to be jointly accountable for the successful realization of business value and execution of key strategic initiatives, enhancements, and ongoing support.

This may necessitate integration with activities beyond the direct scope of the ADT.

At a strategic level, the PO must leverage experience and judgment to prioritize and devise an approach that is suitable for achieving business objectives and removing obstacles.

At a team level, the Product Owner must communicate the product roadmap and backlog priorities while providing feedback to optimize team dynamics and performance.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES


Collaborate with business sponsors, leaders, and other Product Owners to help shape the overall vision of the product, managing various backlog items, determining which features each product will encompass based on stakeholder preferences, prioritizing features for development in the backlog, and engaging with technical teams and users to ascertain their needs and priorities.

In partnership with Business Analysts and the business, draft project specifications and user stories. Responsible for facilitating Agile ceremonies, including but not limited to Portfolio Planning, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, and Release Planning.

Provide context to the ADT to assist in developing solutions that meet current and future business needs.

Regularly review and report on progress relative to business plans and business value in the context of the broader vision.


Assist in removing impediments for the ADT by supporting information gathering from relevant business stakeholders and escalating issues that disrupt the team to the Scrum Master and/or business lead.

Travel may be required as necessary to meet business needs.

In-person attendance for training sessions, team meetings, and other significant events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A four-year degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a four-year degree.

3+ years of experience as a founder, entrepreneur in residence, product owner, or in a similar capacity.


8+ years of experience as a project manager, consultant, or in other related roles managing products or projects with software developers.

Experience with Agile software development, particularly within the SCRUM framework.

Ability to work with and review design assets.

Product experience with cloud-based systems.

Technical experience in software development or within a technical environment.

Knowledge across multiple functional areas, including product management, operations, engineering, UX/UI, sales, customer support, finance, or marketing. Understanding of go-to-market commerce enablers.


Ability to achieve strategic goals and adapt product strategy based on research, data, and industry trends in an innovative and fast-paced environment.

Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.

Successfully defined and launched a product or significant product capability to the market.

Previous experience in developing requirements, business processes, opportunity assessments, and technical alternatives.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS


5+ years of experience as a founder, entrepreneur in residence, or product owner in an Agile (or startup) environment.

Technical degree in computer science.

Master's degree in science or business.

Ability to work with and review design assets within Figma (preferred).

Experience in the commercial energy sector.
