Position Overview:

The IT Project Management Specialist will collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to oversee and implement projects that align with the organization's IT objectives and strategic goals. This role entails taking the lead in guiding project teams through various initiatives based on organizational priorities. The specialist will leverage their project management expertise to enhance project management practices, policies, and procedures. This position will support IT projects that necessitate innovative and strategic thinking to boost agility, value, and alignment with the organization's overarching goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Oversight

  • Independently manage multiple approved projects based on organizational priorities.
  • Define project scope and create comprehensive project plans, including detailed work schedules, resource allocations, and progress reports.
  • Organize, guide, and execute projects with internal stakeholders while adhering to time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Implement PMI-defined processes for scope, time, cost, quality, people, communication, risk, procurement, and project metrics management.
  • Provide regular project status updates, highlighting schedule alignment, achievements, challenges, and resolutions.
  • Support team members by addressing both technical and business-related inquiries.
  • Proactively identify and manage technical challenges and risks, collaborating with teams and management to mitigate potential issues.

Project Portfolio Management

  • Establish and maintain a project registry portfolio for new or incoming project requests.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to assess, scope, and prioritize small-scale IT projects.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and communicate clear project objectives; inspire and motivate team members to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Act as a liaison between the IT Department and organizational stakeholders.
  • Regularly prepare and communicate project updates to key stakeholders and IT leadership to ensure alignment and support.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist senior leadership with special projects or initiatives as needed.
  • Stay informed about current IT and technology trends relevant to the sector through ongoing professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of enterprise-level IT project management experience; advanced degrees or project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma, CSM) are advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations, proactively addressing challenges without prompting.
  • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills, capable of devising multi-faceted solutions in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to build relationships that drive organizational change, even in indirect management scenarios.
  • Capacity to remain composed under pressure, adapt to shifting priorities, and model resourcefulness for team members.
  • Experience collaborating across diverse cultural, geographic, and programmatic contexts to align efforts and achieve objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in proposing and implementing improvements to systems and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities to manage constructive dialogue in challenging situations.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with outcome systems is required.
