Your Responsibilities

As a Research Associate/Process Development Engineer, your role will encompass:

  • Operating pilot plants, collecting data, and analyzing samples.
  • Assisting in the assembly and safe operation of laboratory-scale extrusion and reactor systems.
  • Maintaining a detailed lab notebook, meticulously observing and reporting trends, anomalies, and unexpected results.
  • Conducting routine analytical tests on samples from micro-units and small pilot plants, collaborating with a Senior Analytical Chemist on method development using various analytical techniques.
  • Drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conducting safety reviews, and participating in necessary training sessions.
  • Contributing to the design and development of pilot and commercial plants based on research findings.
  • Collaborating with teams managing large pilot plants and technology licensing partners to expedite commercial plant design.
  • Preparing R&D summaries and presentations for senior management and clients.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering; advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Consideration will also be given to Chemists with experience in building and operating small-scale pilot plants.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an industrial R&D environment, including co-op and internship experiences.
  • Experience in scaling processes from bench to pilot plant scale.
  • Knowledge of extrusion processes.
  • Mechanical aptitude for constructing, setting up, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
  • Familiarity with LabView is advantageous.
  • Authorization to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
