We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Science Specialist to join our team at the City of New York. As a key member of our Bureau of Environmental Compliance, you will play a critical role in implementing and enforcing the City's Air and Noise Codes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform project management in support of air and noise enforcement, including management of a technology support contract for remote sensing enforcement.
- Conduct research into technological innovations to assist BEC with its regulatory role, including sensor technology and business process improvements.
- Analyze and evaluate data generated under the technology support contract to determine correlations with policy and legal considerations.
- Develop metrics and improvements to various air and noise programs, including the use of technological innovations.
- Work with the enforcement unit to address community complaints and provide regulatory and technical assistance for Environmental Control Board hearings.
- Communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals, drawing upon and interpreting relevant codes and regulations.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, or environmental science or public health.
- One year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative, or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization.
