Position Summary:

The Technical Operations Leader is responsible for meeting project engineering goals by directing the creation and synchronization of design outputs across various Integrated Systems to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion while achieving essential operational standards. This role involves close collaboration with Project Managers and the Project Director to manage risks, communicate updates, allocate resources, and effectively control costs. A significant aspect of this position is to cultivate a high-performance culture within the project team to deliver outstanding service and cost-efficient design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer leadership, direction, and mentorship to diverse engineering teams to produce high-quality solutions that fulfill client requirements, adhering to timelines and budget constraints across all project sites.
  • Prioritize Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project phases, demonstrating excellence in HSE, client service, and team performance.
  • Guide both internal engineering teams and external EPC teams during the Front-End Loading (FEL) process to create design outputs that align with project objectives.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential challenges that may affect project goals.
  • Keep stakeholders updated on project status by diligently monitoring and communicating progress.
  • Encourage the application of the Company Capital Process and implement suitable Engineering and Construction Capital Processes to improve project results.
  • Ensure the participation of relevant personnel from Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance in capital projects.
  • Establish a stringent change management protocol to effectively address scope and schedule modifications.
  • Collaborate with Project Controls personnel and the Project Manager to monitor work progress, report discrepancies, and provide insights on budget and schedule variances.
  • Deliver feedback to the Project Team on critical issues and devise action plans to avert potential challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Over 8 years of relevant experience in large capital projects (greater than $200M) within an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) framework or a similar environment, with a total of 10+ years in manufacturing engineering.
  • B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Chemical disciplines.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and experience with capital processes, from project initiation to plant commissioning.
  • Exemplary communication, coordination, and team leadership abilities.
  • Strong business acumen and judgment, with the ability to foresee future challenges and formulate effective strategies. Adaptability is crucial for resolving complex issues amid uncertainty.
  • Accountability and high standards in setting and achieving goals, both personally and within the team.
  • Resilience and flexibility when confronting new challenges and evolving circumstances.
  • Proven capability to drive change effectively and influence stakeholders throughout the change process.
