This position requires a highly qualified special education teacher responsible for instruction, evaluation, coordination, and regulatory compliance for special education students in inclusive settings.

  • Collaborate with general education co-teachers, teaching teams, and other staff to plan, share student work, and ensure instruction is aligned with identified curriculum and standards.
  • Maintain high academic and social emotional expectations for all students in the class.
  • Provide learners with specially designed instruction, developing accommodations and modifications, and offer language instruction or other interventions to facilitate learning.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals and ensure they provide opportunities for students to access the curriculum.
  • Develop Individualized Student Programs (IEPs) for students and maintain compliance with Federal Regulations and State Policies regarding the education of students with disabilities.
  • Ensure appropriate accommodations to the curriculum, lessons, and learning environment.
  • Formally and informally assess student learning to create a comprehensive learning program.
  • Set high expectations suitable for students.
  • Administer assessments and testing, which may be differentiated or specialized based on individual student plans.
  • Build a partnership with families, encouraging their active participation in student learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
