The role is situated within the Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Unit of the Inpatient Acute Care Directorate. The selected candidate will deliver clinical, technical, and direct patient care assistance in a high-acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Facilitating patient admissions and providing orientation to the unit.
  • Executing fundamental nursing tasks such as monitoring vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration, and oxygen saturation.
  • Conducting bladder scans and accurately documenting results.
  • Performing regular patient rounds with specific objectives (pain management, assistance with restroom needs, patient positioning, and general proximity checks).
  • Recording patient data on flow sheets in the designated electronic health record system.
  • Managing telemetry monitoring, ensuring correct lead placement, and attaching electrodes upon patient admission.
  • Coordinating with ICU technicians prior to patient discharge, cleaning telemetry equipment, and ensuring proper storage.
  • Assisting in the upkeep of telemetry devices and necessary supplies.
  • Supporting CPR resuscitation efforts and other medical procedures by capturing EKG strips and documenting any rhythm alterations.
  • Administering standard 12-lead EKGs using the multi-channel EKG apparatus.
Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts, either Days or Nights, with rotation to weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements: The role entails regular exposure to infectious diseases and the handling of potentially hazardous materials. Adherence to infection control protocols is mandatory, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess experience that demonstrates the application of knowledge, methods, and techniques relevant to the role.

Education: Only degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited institutions will be considered for qualification.
