Job Summary

The Shelby County Systems Administrator I - Server & Storage (SA-I-S&S) is a key member of our IT team, responsible for the administration, implementation, maintenance, operation, and security of core server operating systems, directory services, file and print services, and antivirus systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, configuration, and support of network security technologies, including certificates, antivirus software, web and email filtering, and other security measures.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain network servers and service reference documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of processes and procedures for operation and maintenance of software and hardware-based components of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Remote Desktop Services, and various monitoring, logging, and notification services.
  • Assist in Server and Storage Services documentation and reporting, and perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure the integrity and availability of enterprise server and storage systems, performing backup and recovery operations as needed.
  • Collaborate with the team to establish, review, update standards, and procedures to support a timely and effective work environment.
  • Present recommendations to management related to purchasing and installing hardware, software, and network server technologies.
  • Utilize tools effectively in problem analysis and performance evaluations.
  • Participate in R&D activities on new and evolving network server technologies.
Requirements
  • Three (3) years of experience as a system administrator.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, or closely related field.
  • Equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
  • Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.
Special Requirements

Must be available to work on-call as required.
