We are in search of a dynamic and visionary leader to take on the role of Executive Director at Catholic Charities. This pivotal position will be instrumental in furthering our mission and ensuring the effective provision of essential services to those we serve. The Executive Director will provide strategic guidance, cultivate collaborative partnerships, and manage the daily operations of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Board and Governance Relations:

Enhances the engagement and development of the Board of Directors to further the organization's mission and strategic goals. Facilitates effective communication and collaboration among the board, committees, and staff. Develops and presents budgetary proposals and fundraising objectives.

Strategic Leadership:

Directs the formulation and implementation of the organization's Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment with its mission and objectives. Remains informed about organizational and community trends to identify service needs and opportunities for program expansion. Conducts regular assessments with leadership teams to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as necessary.

Social Justice Advocacy:

Works in partnership with the Diocese and stakeholders to promote social justice initiatives, including the advancement of Catholic Identity and Hiring for Mission efforts. Oversees advocacy, awareness, and educational initiatives on social justice matters. Encourages the understanding and application of Catholic Social Teaching within the organization and the wider community.

Administrative and Organizational Leadership:

Manages overall operations, ensuring compliance with policies and standards. Guides leadership teams towards optimal performance and professional growth. Makes strategic decisions to support organizational development and sustainability.

Financial Management and Oversight:

Responsible for overseeing financial performance and budgeting processes, presenting reports to the Board to assess the fiscal health and performance of the organization. Negotiates service agreements with the diocese for in-kind services.

Development and Fundraising:

Collaborates on donor relations and fundraising strategies. Enhances contributions through the involvement of Catholic Charities board members and community stakeholders. Participates in the organization's annual fundraising campaign.

Program Oversight:

Ensures compliance with regulations, accreditation standards, and grant management requirements. Monitors program performance and outcomes. Oversees the negotiation and approval of contracts and grants with governmental agencies, private funders, and vendors.

Community and External Relations:

Represents the organization with community partners, funders, and stakeholders. Serves on relevant boards, committees, and task forces. Cultivates relationships with parish communities and stakeholders.

Internal Collaboration:

Promotes a positive work environment, collaborates with leadership teams to plan and evaluate programs, and ensures alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic objectives as grounded in Catholic Social Teachings.

Personal Attributes and Commitment:

The Executive Director should embody the values, mission, ministry, and legacy of Catholic Charities, demonstrating a strong commitment to serving vulnerable populations and advocating for social justice.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Advanced degree in social work, human services, public administration, business, or a related field is required; or equivalent education and experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a nonprofit, social services, or related field, with a record of progressive leadership, management, and operational responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Proven track record of strategic planning, program development, and organizational management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in fundraising, grant, and financial management.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff and community partners.
  • Knowledge of social justice issues and a passion for serving those in need.
  • Ability to successfully pass a child abuse registry check and criminal background check.
