POSITION SUMMARY

This role encompasses a comprehensive management position within hotel operations, specifically supporting various departments including Front Desk (comprising Bell/Door Staff, Switchboard, AYS, and Concierge/Guest Services), Rooms (including Housekeeping, Recreation, and Laundry), Food and Beverage (covering Restaurants, Bar/Lounge, and Room Service), and Event Operations (which includes Event Services, Banquets, and Event Technology).

The candidate will demonstrate a solid understanding of brand standards and operational requirements across all areas of responsibility. This position involves coordinating labor schedules and leading shifts based on the needs of the property.

The individual will oversee and collaborate with team members to facilitate guest arrival and departure processes, support the operational demands of Food and Beverage outlets, and lead the setup and execution of meetings and events according to established standards.

Responsibilities include conducting inspections of guest rooms, providing constructive feedback to front desk and food and beverage staff, and ensuring Event Operations teams meet expectations for event execution.

The role is accountable for maintaining compliance with brand standards and legal requirements, while fostering a high-quality service environment. The candidate will lead daily briefings, communicate performance expectations, and assist senior management with financial and administrative tasks. A commitment to enhancing guest and employee satisfaction while optimizing financial outcomes is essential.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree from an accredited institution in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field; with a minimum of 2 years of experience in food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a similar professional area.

OR

  • If lacking a standard educational background, at least 3 years of experience in two of the following hospitality areas: food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in shift management, scheduling, performance management, problem-solving, and daily operations within the hospitality sector.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Guest Services Teams

  • Directs daily operations for Front Desk, Housekeeping, or Guest Services shifts.
  • Assists in implementing an effective inspection program for all guest rooms and public areas.
  • Participates in relevant meetings (e.g., Staff, Forecast, Pre-Cons, Department).
  • Promotes mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Ensures current knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Performs necessary duties at the Front Desk.
  • Oversees daily shift operations and ensures adherence to housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Supervises Housekeeping and related areas in the absence of the Director of Services or Housekeeping Manager.
  • Supports Front Office operations in the absence of the Front Office or Front Desk Manager.
  • Utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead and motivate staff; advocates for sound financial decision-making; exemplifies integrity and leads by example.

Management of Food and Beverage Operations

  • Opens and closes shifts for restaurant, bar, or food and beverage outlets.
  • Supervises operations in the absence of the Director or Manager.
  • Reinforces adherence to all standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists staff during peak periods.
  • Continuously expands knowledge of food and beverage trends and event presentation.
  • Communicates and executes departmental emergency procedures, ensuring staff readiness regarding safety protocols.
  • Ensures compliance with all restaurant and bar policies and standards.
  • Implements beverage policies and procedures throughout the hotel.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Monitors departmental inventories and equipment maintenance.
  • Orders necessary supplies for the department.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal beverage laws.
  • Aims to achieve or exceed budgetary goals.
  • Encourages staff to address guest and employee concerns.
  • Performs duties of restaurant employees as needed.
  • Trains staff on cash handling and liquor control policies.
  • Understands beverage control metrics and standards.
  • Participates in all relevant meetings.

Management of Event Operations

  • Ensures event spaces are set according to specifications and customer requirements.
  • Leads shifts and actively participates in event servicing.
  • Reinforces adherence to all operational standards and policies.
  • Maintains inventory of function room supplies.
  • Participates in all relevant meetings.
  • Attends pre-event meetings to understand group needs.
  • Communicates essential information to Event Services teams.
  • Conducts inspections of event spaces prior to events.
  • Delegates tasks to ensure timely room setups.
  • Maintains awareness of event satisfaction metrics.
  • Manages departmental inventories and equipment.
  • Orders necessary supplies for events.
  • Schedules staff according to service standards.
  • Utilizes tools to manage banquet beverage costs.
  • Implements brand-specific meeting service programs.
  • Collaborates with Event Technology teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Works with Event Planning teams for seamless event delivery.

Performance and Budget Management

  • Understands departmental goals and assists in monitoring them.
  • Comprehends budgets and payroll reports to assist in financial management.
  • Ensures timely communication of guest room status to the Front Desk.
  • Supports management of departmental inventories according to budget.
  • Aims to achieve or exceed budgetary goals.
  • Responsible for daily financial performance.
  • Participates in managing departmental expenses.
  • Understands the impact of operations on overall financial goals.
  • Verifies accuracy of room rates to maximize revenue.
  • Collaborates with Engineering on maintenance needs.

Team Leadership and Standards

  • Ensures knowledge of OSHA regulations is current.
  • Fosters a motivating and empowering hotel environment.
  • Communicates departmental goals clearly in meetings.
  • Participates in developing corrective action plans.

Exceptional Customer Service

  • Encourages staff to deliver excellent customer service.

  • Manages Front Desk shifts and ensures completion of tasks.
  • Understands night audit procedures and utilizes reports effectively.

Human Resource Support

  • Identifies developmental needs and mentors team members.
  • Assists in the performance appraisal process.

The hourly pay range for this position is $26.44 to $33.65.
