Position Overview:

The Overnight Artisan Bread Baker plays a crucial role in our culinary team, executing the vision set forth by the Executive Chef, Head Baker, and Pastry Chef. This position involves the meticulous preparation and baking of a diverse range of breads, both unique and traditional, which are distributed through our retail and wholesale channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to detailed recipes and prep lists, ensuring consistency and quality in all baked goods.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic knife skills and an understanding of various bread types, including enriched and lean breads, laminated pastries, bagels, and quick breads.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation while working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Effectively communicate with team members regarding inventory and preparation needs.
  • Organize and manage the walk-in and cooler spaces to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Handle large volume orders from wholesale clients while meeting the demands of our retail operations.
  • Perform end-of-shift duties, including cleaning and organizing the workspace to meet the expectations of supervisory staff.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically up to 8 hours or more.
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Willingness to work in varying temperature environments, including both warm and cool areas.
  • Ability to manage high noise levels from kitchen operations and customer interactions.
  • Must be comfortable working around common allergens such as peanuts, eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
  • Availability to work overnight shifts and weekends as required.
