Pastry Sous Chef Job Description

Goddess and the Baker, Superior is a dynamic and growing company with a passion for delivering exceptional pastry products to our customers. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pastry Sous Chef to join our team and drive innovation, creativity, and production at our new facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the preparation and production of high-quality desserts, bread, and pastries for multiple outlets.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Pastry Chef to develop new recipes and techniques that meet our company's high standards.
  • Manage internal invoices and billing for wholesale accounts, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Schedule and lead a team of up to 25 employees, including production, packing, and delivery drivers.
  • Maintain and improve superior sanitation practices throughout the facility.
  • Motivate the team to maintain a sense of pride and passion for food, service, and high standards.
  • Work closely with the team to increase and maintain company standards, ensuring exceptional quality and presentation.
  • Display high creativity and quality levels through quarterly presentations and projects.
  • Ensure requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated areas.
  • Restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service, maintaining a clean and organized station.
  • Label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation.
  • Maintain production knowledge and attention to detail with decoration and taste quality.
  • Assist bakers and helpers as needed in the execution of production.
  • Conduct training for bakers and compliance with job responsibilities.
  • Ensure the highest level of quality in all aspects of production.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in a comparable role, preferably in a high-volume, high-quality environment.
  • Proven experience in managing food and labor aspects of P&L and budgeting functions.
  • Previous experience in managing a team and leading by example.
  • Well-organized with the ability to meet timelines and show results through initiatives.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of trends and techniques in the pastry industry.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of bakery equipment, including slicing machines, mixers, and small wares equipment.
  • Certified in health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Knowledge of weights, measures, and various baking and preparation techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of American and European pastries.
