Description

Otter Tail County is seeking applications for a full-time Waste Management Technician to operate at the Fergus Falls Recycling & Redemption Center.

The objective of this role is to efficiently sort and process recyclable materials from Otter Tail County and neighboring areas, ensuring a high-quality end product that consistently meets or exceeds recycling market standards, while contributing positively to environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sorts recyclable materials (paper, plastic, metal, glass) in accordance with guidelines established by the Recycling Manager.
  • Collaborates with the Recycling Operator and Lead Recycling Worker to facilitate the flow of recyclable materials on the sorting line.
  • Works alongside Recycling Operators and Lead Recycling Worker to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient operations.
  • Monitors the operation of recycling equipment and reports any malfunctions to the Lead Recycling Worker or Recycling Manager.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and practices while on duty.
  • Maintains cleanliness of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Operates balers, forklifts, skid-steers, and conveyors as necessary.
  • Provides support to Recycling Redemption Workers as needed.
  • Assists in other departmental areas when requested, including recycling, redemption, transfer stations, and landfills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to obtain Forklift and Skid-Steer Certification upon hire.
Additional Information

This full-time position entails a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. The starting hourly wage for this role is competitive, based on qualifications, with opportunities for advancement.
