Job Description

The Accounting Manager - Americas will be responsible for supervising staff and reviewing workpapers, preparing various statutory financial statements, managing and executing the close process, and preparing reporting requirements for the Group Team.

  • Provide effective direction and oversight for specific functions within the accounting department, including reporting, balance sheet, and specific expense categories, with a team of 4 employees located in the Manhattan support office.
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of monthly close activities, including supervision of junior team members and review of their work.
  • Lead the production and consolidation of monthly results, including reporting packages supporting commercial review processes and quarterly/annual reporting requirements.
  • Financial statements are prepared in accordance with UK GAAP for group reporting purposes, and the Accounting Manager - Americas will also oversee US GAAP reconciliation and preparation of non-statutory financial statements.
  • Collaborate with accounts payable, treasury, payroll, tax, and FP&A on month-end close requirements, communicating deadlines and expectations clearly.
  • Work collaboratively with the Group Finance/Reporting team and comply with all group reporting requirements.
  • Lead the provision of support for annual audit activities with internal and external auditors, ensuring timely delivery of audit requirements and seeing audits through to completion.
  • Partner with the Corporate Controller and Assistant Corporate Controller on the continued evolution of the accounting function capabilities, including accounting/reporting requirements, process improvements, new technology, and automation.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience: Must possess strong accounting management capabilities gained through 7+ years of hands-on experience with a mix of public and private accounting, strongly preferred.
  • Industry: Experience in the hospitality, retail, and/or CPG industries is highly preferred, along with exposure to a multi-location or multi-business environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical accounting skills and academic background in accounting, finance, or related field are essential, with a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP reporting and other requirements of regulations and statutes such as Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Systems: Strong working knowledge of ERP functionality, with previous experience with new ERP implementation strongly desired.
  • Software Skills: Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel modeling, query skills, and working with large volumes of data.
  • Team: Strong team building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others, resolve conflict, and lead a diverse team in various disciplines.
  • Candidate must be detail-oriented and have the ability and interest to dive into the details as necessary, with a high level of intellectual curiosity and the ability to think outside the box and be an effective problem solver.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to create and maintain collaborative professional relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks concurrently.

Pay Range: $120,000—$140,000 USD
