Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new products and product lines, including engineered-to-order and sustaining projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, customer service, sales, and engineering, to provide customer solutions.
  • Produce engineering drawings and supportive project documentation for release.
  • Assist in providing product pricing for quotes and working with suppliers to establish requirements and quality.
  • Operate document control functions to maintain quality of work, integrity of design control, as well as process and ISO compliance.
  • Conduct product or material research when required.
  • Utilize company ERP software to support evaluation and setup of requirements to drive production.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, or Chemistry.
  • 0-3 years of experience in product engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of rubber manufacturing and machining, plastics, and urethanes.
  • Experience with API testing, material characterization and evaluation equipment, and metrology equipment.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW or equivalent, and experience with data analysis.
  • Strong FEA simulation background, with experience with plasticity on metals, hyperelasticity on elastomers, fatigue evaluation, viscoelasticity, composites, wear, etc.
Work Environment:

This job operates primarily in an office environment within a manufacturing location. Occasional field and customer visits require working in a hands-on environment. Hands-on work also increases in a plant environment when building and testing prototype designs.

This position may require travel up to 30% of the time and most often to other UTEX locations, but also to customer locations (field visits).
