Job Summary:
As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in administering radiation therapy treatments to oncology patients. Your responsibilities will include assessment, intervention, calculations, documentation, and patient education. You will work under the general supervision of a radiation therapy supervisor and be evaluated based on conformance to standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer radiation therapy in accordance with physician's instructions and the patient's treatment plan, ensuring accurate data entry and equipment operation.
- Collaborate with physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists to prepare physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans, utilizing patient condition and anatomy information.
- Maintain accurate patient and billing records, reports, and files, adhering to department policies and procedures.
- Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments, such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy, in accordance with established practices and standards.
- Prepare equipment and room for patient treatment, utilizing appropriate protective equipment and procedures to ensure patient, self, and others' safety.
- Provide on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.
Requirements:
- Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
- Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Board Eligible (must receive certification within one year of hire).
