Position Overview:
As an Oncology Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients with cancer. Your work will involve assessment, intervention, calculations, documentation, and patient education.

This role operates under the general oversight of a radiation therapy supervisor, with performance evaluated based on adherence to established standards and protocols.


Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver radiation therapy in alignment with physician directives and the patient's treatment regimen.
- Input data into the computer system and adjust equipment settings to manage dosage accurately.


- Collaborate with physicians, radiation oncologists, clinical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to prepare the technical aspects of radiation treatment plans, utilizing patient condition and anatomical information.

- Construct patient immobilization devices as prescribed by physicians.

- Maintain comprehensive patient and billing records, including radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient responses, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.


- Perform both routine and advanced radiation therapy treatments, such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and brachytherapy, following established practices and standards.

- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient sessions, ensuring the use of appropriate protective measures to safeguard patients, yourself, and others. Conduct quality assurance procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.

- Provide clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.

Additional Information:

Educational Requirements:
  • Completion of a Radiation Therapy Technologist program accredited by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
  • Certification in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Board Eligible (must obtain certification within one year of employment).

Professional Experience Requirements:
  • No prior experience necessary.
