Civil Engineer Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at National Guard Employment Network. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with experience in facilities design and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide independent, timely, and professional civil engineering support for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other supported Commands.
  • Participate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.
  • Support a broad spectrum of civil engineering projects, including site developments, roads, airfields, water supply, sewer systems, drainage, dredging, solid waste facilities, shore protection, and other civil works.
Requirements:
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the discipline of Civil Engineering is desired.
  • Broad professional knowledge and experience in the theories, concepts, principles, and practices of civil engineering for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of a wide range of shore-based engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of DOD and Navy guide specifications, criteria, and policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices related to civil engineering design.
  • Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting civil engineering design throughout the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic AOR.
  • Skill in the use of software/systems, such as Whole Building Design Guide (WBGD) and AutoCAD, civil design/analysis software, and Specs-In-Tact technologies.
Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional civil engineering code-compliant facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience, is required.
  • Completion of a course of studies from an Accreditation Board for Engineers and Technology (ABET) accredited Civil Engineering program from a college or university with a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on design experience, is required.
