Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Level Civil Engineer to join our Norfolk office. The successful candidate will assist with the planning and design of a wide variety of projects, including site layout, site civil design, rough and precise grading, dredging, drainage design, and utility design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering designs by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data.
  • Create feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.
  • Prepare design documents and reports for civil site development, including site layout, grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems.
  • Perform calculations, prepare cost estimates, drawings, technical specifications, and write reports.
  • Assist in the production of engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules.
  • Perform limited field observations in support of construction and data collection.
  • May assist in the training of junior staff and guide designers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT certification (required).
  • Internship or experience in site/civil or land development engineering strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Working Conditions

The majority of work is office-based, with some site visits required, which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
