Job Title: Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at BB&E Inc. as a key member of our facilities design and construction projects for NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic at Naval Station Norfolk, VA.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide independent, timely, and professional civil engineering support, services, and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other supported Commands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide civil engineering support for facilities design and construction projects, including site developments, roads, airfields, water supply, sewer systems, drainage, dredging, solid waste facilities, shore protection, and other civil works.
  • Collaborate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.
  • Participate in conferences with project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
Requirements
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the discipline of Civil Engineering is desired.
  • Broad professional knowledge and experience in the theories, concepts, principles, and practices of civil engineering for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of a wide range of shore-based engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of DOD and Navy guide specifications, criteria, and policy, industry codes and standards, and standard practices related to civil engineering design.
  • Ability to produce results of analysis in writing and consolidate findings of others and evaluate recommendations and facts.
Education and Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional civil engineering code-compliant facilities design experience for new construction, including renovation design experience, is required.
  • Completion of a course of studies from an Accreditation Board for Engineers and Technology (ABET) accredited Civil Engineering program from a college or university with a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, supplemented by a considerable amount of hands-on design experience, is required.
