Job Summary

The City of Memphis is seeking a highly skilled Firefighter II to join our team. As a Firefighter II, you will be responsible for responding to emergency situations, providing medical care, and conducting firefighting operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide medical care to patients
  • Conduct firefighting operations, including extinguishing fires and rescuing people from burning buildings
  • Operate firefighting equipment, such as hoses and ladders
  • Participate in training exercises to maintain and improve firefighting skills
  • Work effectively as part of a team to achieve firefighting goals
Requirements
  • State of Tennessee National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certified Firefighter I, II and EMT or AEMT, or eligible for reciprocity in the State of Tennessee
  • Two (2) years of experience with a full-time Fire Service or five (5) years with a volunteer Fire Service
  • Ability to pass comprehensive medical examination and physical ability test
  • Valid Class D Tennessee Driver's License or valid Out of State driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class D Tennessee Driver's License with Endorsement F
Working Conditions

As a Firefighter II, you will be exposed to extreme heat, thick smoke, and toxic fumes in firefighting situations. You may also be exposed to contagious infections and diseases in emergency situations. You will work from assigned fire stations to perform firefighting duties in emergency vehicles, such as aerial trucks, engines, or other apparatus at the scene of fires.
