Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Development Engineer to join our team. This exciting role will involve leading project initiatives related to the development of new formulations, processes, and equipment optimization. The successful candidate will work closely with our production locations to proactively address processing challenges and improve efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Development and Engineering teams to develop and scale-up new products and processes.
- Deliver high-quality products and processes to internal plant locations.
- Lead formulation and reformulation project work, as well as engineering aspects of project delivery.
- Assist in implementing process improvements, measurement tools, and sensors to drive cost savings, quality improvements, and improved line performance.
- Troubleshoot issues related to formula development and manufacturing, including food/machine interfaces on existing assets.
- Consider process rates and efficiencies to minimize cost impact on production.
- Travel up to 40% to work with cross-functional teams, partners, and locations.
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. during testing, trials, and startups.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Food/Agricultural/Biological Engineering with food industry experience.
- 2-5 years' experience in food processing, including manufacturing process, equipment, and materials, process engineering & modeling, manufacturing, or continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of Acidified/LACF processing is a plus.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify creative solutions to problems.
- Understanding of Food Safety and documentation of thermal and non-thermal information.
- Technical certification in Better Process Control School, Thermal processing certifications, product development certification, or culinary certifications is a plus.
- Fermentation and Acetation processing experience is a plus.
