Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at SSM Health. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.
  • Work closely with our healthcare team to ensure that patients receive the highest level of care.
  • Set up and adjust equipment, and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.
  • Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures.
  • Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning and report any potential problems.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or completion of a Sonography certification program.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Breast (BR) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with Adult Echocardiography (AE) Specialty - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
