Job Overview:

The primary role involves collaborating with the Commercial Loan Manager to oversee the commercial loan portfolio, which encompasses income-generating properties across various sectors, including commercial and multifamily loans, secured by real estate or other forms of collateral.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage approved categories of commercial loans, adhering to the Bank's lending objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Engage with both existing and potential clients regarding commercial loans and mortgages, providing insights into available options and programs while gathering necessary financial documentation.
  • Address daily inquiries from clients about lending programs, assess prospective loan applications, and evaluate loan submissions.
  • Offer support and direction to loan processors and pre-closing teams on processing and closing matters.

Oversee the processing of commercial loans and real estate mortgage applications assigned to the officer.
Ensure effective communication with borrowers and their representatives concerning property, credit, underwriting, and processing issues.


  • Evaluate and underwrite commercial loan applications, ensuring compliance with credit and underwriting standards.

Assist in preparing Loan Presentations, including credit and collateral assessments, and debt service ratios. The lending officer must notify the Commercial Loan Department Manager of any significant risk factors or discrepancies identified during the loan process.


  • Draft Greenlight Memorandums, CAM Requests, and CAM Amendments as necessary to streamline the underwriting process.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations affecting the lending industry.
  • Supervise and approve commitment letters and other administrative and operational matters.

The officer is accountable for the accuracy and thoroughness of underwriting and analysis as well as commitment letters.


  • Monitor loan closings, collaborating with attorneys and closing agents to resolve title and contingency issues.
  • Support loan production and related activities, including loan collections and foreclosure processes, as well as audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Process and recommend loan assumptions or refinancing through modifications.

Additionally, manage construction loans as assigned.


Judgment and Independence:

This role requires adherence to established principles and policies while exercising judgment within the scope of authorized responsibilities.

Consequences of Errors:

Errors in this position may affect customer trust and could lead to significant financial repercussions for the Bank, including potential complaints from clients.


Communication Skills:

This position necessitates ongoing communication with both internal and external stakeholders.


Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include the ability to remain seated for extended periods, perform repetitive movements, and utilize vision for both close and distant tasks. Employees may need to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a financial institution or related field, with knowledge of marketing, credit analysis, and lending practices.
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations governing the banking and lending sectors.
  • Strong understanding of financial products and services.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and mathematical skills.
  • Proficient in using computers and office software.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to manage stress effectively.
Work Environment:

This position is based in an office setting with a comfortable climate, adequate lighting, and minimal noise. Employees may be required to represent the company at external events and work extended hours as necessary.
