Job Opportunity: Quality Control Inspector III

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Inspector III to join our team in Portsmouth, VA.

Job Summary:

As a Quality Control Inspector III, you will be responsible for inspecting and monitoring work performed on government and commercial work items, specializing in Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical Inspections for Quality compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviews work packages prior to start-work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • Performs in-process work surveillances, safety surveillances, and assists production management with final work-package review after work-completion.
  • Conducts internal in-process audits to monitor compliance with company procedures and performs external audits to evaluate supplier performance while on worksite.
  • Communicates with the QAS to help prepare Corrective Action Requests and Preventative Action requests as related to production work to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Assists Program Managers, Project Managers, and Supervisors/Foreman in the compliance of NAVSEA Standard Items and other customer-related requirements to ensure work is conducted accurately and safely.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years waterfront Quality Inspection/Testing experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree may be substituted with a completed Maritime Trade School/Apprenticeship with 5 years waterfront Quality Assurance experience or 4 years military service with specialized training and certifications in Quality Inspection/Testing.
  • Bachelor's Degree/Trade School/Military Service may be substituted with GED minimal education and specialized training and certifications in Quality Assurance with 8 years total waterfront experience with 5 years Quality Inspection/Testing experience.
Travel Requirements:

Must be able to travel for extended periods of time (85%).

Job Training:

Safety, Quality Assurance, and NAVSEA Standards for shipboard work.

Certifications:

Quality Assurance Inspector, NACE/NBPI (desired), NDT Level II (desired).

Base Access:

Must be able to obtain and maintain access to U.S. Military bases and shipyards for performance of job duties. Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledgeable in shipyard, maritime, and commercial work practices, quality assurance, safety, Metal-work, and contracting methods.
  • Knowledge of Navy ship repair processes and procedures to include extensive Level I, SUBSAFE, and SOC quality inspection experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations for Shipyard Employment, NAVSEA Standard Items, Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM), NAVSHIPS Tech Manuals (NSTM), and DOD Standards, Military Specifications, Performance Standards, and other customer-related specifications and standards.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Must be able to physically access ships, small craft, and submarines.

Able to operate in confined spaces, noisy environments, extreme height, heavy industrial conditions, high traffic areas, office environments, meetings, and multiple locations.

Able to remain calm in stressful situations, including high-pressure production schedules, strict workmanship requirements, customer interface, and regulatory requirements.
