Quecon, Inc. is actively seeking a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to enhance the operational capabilities of the Federal Aviation Administration. This role is essential in delivering high-quality, professional, and technical support to meet the agency's requirements. The selected candidates will engage in a diverse range of responsibilities aimed at facilitating the FAA's objectives.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Linux configuration and a comprehensive understanding of computer system architecture and implementation. Proficiency in managing intricate computer systems from various angles, including Linux system administration, shell scripting, and networking device knowledge, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to apply these technical skills independently and securely, along with possessing strong communication abilities.

*Candidates selected for this position will undergo a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility criteria for a Position of Public Trust. US Citizenship or a 3-year permanent residency is required.

This role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring the candidate to be present at the Wiliam J. Hughes Technical Center in Pomona, NJ, for at least two days each week or as necessary.

Educational Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, coupled with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Proficient in Linux systems (preferably Redhat, but other distributions are acceptable) - OS configuration and administration
  • Strong interpersonal skills (communication, organization, etc.)
  • Hardware proficiency - Ability to replace system components and install hardware/OS
  • Understanding of Networking Devices (IP addressing fundamentals, routing, ACLs, configurations)
  • Data analysis capabilities
  • Familiarity with Linux Shell Scripting

Additional Skills (Preferred but Not Required):

  • Knowledge of software development and engineering processes
  • Experience in requirements development
  • Familiarity with Java and SQL
  • Understanding of XML
  • Experience with NAS flight processing
  • Familiarity with TBFM or other FAA systems

Travel: Minimal travel may be required.
