Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for:

  • Processing and testing specimens
  • Reviewing and reporting lab results
  • Performing operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  • Acting as a resource to other laboratory personnel
Responsibilities:

The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for:

  • Providing direction to other laboratory staff
  • Providing input on staff evaluations
  • Maintaining complete and up-to-date procedure manuals
  • Achieving ongoing compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Working in multiple departments/sections or multiple facilities within a market, as requested
  • Completing other duties assigned by laboratory supervisor or director
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology
  • Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire)
  • Ability to perform all duties as required of a Medical Technologist
