Job SummaryThe Automation Technician II works independently to resolve electro-mechanical issues and equipment errors on automated material handling systems and related equipment. This role involves performing repair and preventive maintenance, as well as on-site set-up, programming, and customer training.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair mechanical problems using advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Minimize downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex equipment issues.
- Mentor and train Automation Technician I colleagues.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Update technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on design changes and upgrades.
- Document maintenance activities and repairs.
- Follow all OSHA and internal safety standards.
- 2 years of experience in the material handling industry or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience with CMMS platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment and PLCs.
- Working knowledge of handheld and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs and motor control.
- Advanced ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, moderate electrical, and controls defects.
- Advanced ability to interpret both mechanical and electric drawings and schematics.
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of safe industrial work practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Ability to work in and contribute to a team setting.
- Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office.
