Job Overview

Position Summary

The role involves the daily operation of commercial trucks to deliver products to designated locations. The types of vehicles may include box trucks, tandem axle straight trucks, and transport trucks, which may vary in size and function. Compliance with all safety regulations, including DOT and CSA standards, is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a truck for a minimum of 40 hours each week.
  • Receive and interpret delivery orders from dispatch.
  • Plan delivery routes based on priority and instructions from dispatch.
  • Manage paperwork effectively, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Verify product details against the compartment log, including quantity and customer information.
  • Inspect the arrangement of products on the vehicle to align with delivery schedules.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting findings as required.
  • Ensure customer acknowledgment through signatures on Bills of Lading and meter tickets.
  • Maintain accurate mileage logs and retain fuel receipts.
  • Keep a detailed driver’s log.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding any inquiries or issues.
  • Participate in driver meetings as scheduled.
  • Adhere strictly to all DOT regulations, including hours of service and safety protocols.
  • Report any vehicle or trailer issues to Operations promptly.
  • Assist with vehicle maintenance and repairs as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
  • Minimum of 100,000 miles of driving experience.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and CSA 2010 standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
